Djanes: Tell Your Story
ARCA and the media project Djanes announce the launch of the youth journalism competition “Djanes: Storytelling Contest”.
Our goal is to amplify the voices of a new generation of authors who want to explore journalism through the lenses of identity, memory, and social transformation.
Theme of the competition: Identity and Memory.
We invite participants to explore how young people preserve their culture and voice in contemporary society, how their views on education, work, and activism are shifting, and how personal and family histories become part of collective memory — from the Romani genocide to today’s war in Ukraine.
Submissions are accepted in two categories:
-
Text — reportage, interview, essay, or analytical article.
-
Photo project — a series of up to ten photographs united by a single narrative.
We welcome submissions from young people aged 16 to 35 — both of Romani background and anyone interested in the themes of identity and memory.
Winners will receive cash prizes, publication on the Djanes platform, and an editorial internship with the possibility of future employment.
Applications are open from October 1 to October 25, 2025, with results announced in November.
To participate, please fill out this Google Form.
This competition is your opportunity to share your story — of your family, your community — and to become part of a team shaping new narratives in the media.
